Diandre Fuentes Elpedes was born in Long Beach, CA and raised in Seaside, CA. She earned her B.F.A. from The Rhode Island School of Design Textiles Department in 2013. She works as a footwear designer for Vans by day. By night, she organizes and produces cultural work with Gabriela South Bay, a Filipino women’s organization working on campaigns to uphold the rights of women and children. In 2017, Diandre served as a grants panelist for the National Endowment of the Arts, Design Category. Diandre also makes comics under the name Sonic Yonix with her creative partner Bianca Gonzalez-Marra that investigate the humorous underbelly of femininity.
